This week in Reading we are working on:
Comprehension Strategy-Comparing and Contrasting Story Elements
Metacognative Strategy- Making Inferences
How can you support at home?
Ask your child to make a prediction or an educated guess about what will happen in the story next by using evidence from what they know or see.

Ask your child to think about what they just read and make an inference.
Inferences can be made from only the text.
Inferences can be made from using background knowledge (schema).
Inferences can be made from combining both text and their background knowledge.
Writing Personal Narratives. Choosing a topic and writing a story about that moment. Stories should have a beginning, middle and end. Students are to use their senses as a guide to write about their experiences including details.

How can I support my child at home?
Write a number and ask student how many tens are in the number or how many ones are in the number. Give your child a number and ask them to tell you which is greater than or less than.
