This week in language arts we are reading different versions of If You Give a... The children will make a retelling wheel for If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, do a sequencing activity and an association paper. For example, if there is a picture of toothpaste, you might think of a toothbrush. We have also been talking about inference (pictures and words) and how it can lead to a conclusion. Please continue to have your child read every night and ask them to retell what they just wrote.
This week in math we are focusing on telling the difference between a subtraction story problem and addition story problem. We are also continuing with the calendar activities like place value, counting and money.
This week in science we worked on experimenting with a puppet to create a shadow as well as ourselves. We also will discuss how water flows and how to keep it clean. They will make water conservation posters in small groups.
Please remember to check the Prince William County web site about dress code. The children can not wear flip flops or sandals without a back strap, spaghetti straps on tank tops or tops with some of their back showing. If they wear a top like this, they will need to wear a light jacket or sweater over it.

The children were sent home with the paper on Raz Kids. This is a great program done on the computer where the children read books that are on a level they can feel successful at. As the children progress, I can change the level that the child reads on. If you have any questions you can contact me.
